First electric school busA new electric bus offering zero emissions has been introduced in New York’s Copiague Public School District by Educational Bus Transportation, which provides transportation services to the district. The first of its kind in New York State, the bus offers seating capacity for 25 students.

Ulster County Bus Driver of the YearAt its recent annual meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina, the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) presented awards to individuals and companies for achieving excellence within the school bus industry. Top among the honors, The Trans Group received the first ever company-wide Gold Certification from the NSTA’s Green School Bus Fleet Certification Program — an award that was reviewed and endorsed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus USA Program.

Two Trans Group drivers win top honors at New York State School Bus Safety Competition

Two drivers win top honorsTwo drivers belonging to The Trans Group family of bus companies recently took top honors at the 45th Annual New York State School Bus Safety Competition held in Rockland County, New York. Of the more than 130 competing drivers, Geoffrey Roan of Educational Bus Transportation won first place in the small bus/van category and John Forte of Chestnut Ridge Transportation finished fifth in the transit category.

Ulster County Bus Driver of the YearThe Mid-Hudson Transportation Supervisors Association has named Ethan Allen Transportation school bus driver Andrea Whittaker “2016 Ulster County Bus Driver of the Year.” The award, which recognizes Whittaker’s dedication to her profession, was presented in conjunction with Operation Safe Stop Day, a program that brings together local school districts and law enforcement agencies to cooperate on ticketing motorists who illegally pass school buses that are stopped to pick up or drop off school children.

School Bus Safety Matters - Ramapo Central School District

Chestnut Ridge Transportation Awarded EPA Grant to Help School Buses “Go Green” in Rockland County

Spring Valley, NY. Children in the East Ramapo and Ramapo Central School Districts will enjoy a cleaner, healthier environment thanks to Chestnut Ridge Transportation. The transportation company, a member of The Trans Group, LLC (Spring Valley, NY), has been awarded a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to replace and/or upgrade the school bus fleets it operates for East Ramapo and Ramapo Central schools. The grant was awarded in conjunction with the National School Transportation Association’s (NSTA) Go Yellow, Go Green national campaign that encourages cleaner operation of school buses through the reduction of school bus idling and the implementation of the latest clean diesel technologies. Robin Leeds, former NSTA Industry Specialist, will manage the grant.
